Going away for YomTov
As I was speaking with friends I realized how hard YomTov is for those who go away. You see, just because they do not have to cook or clean for YomTov, they have to pack for the entire time they will not be home. For some it is easier than others because they will be living at home and eating out. But for those who go away, they need to pack.
Now, don't start getting hyper on me and yell "how dare you compare packing to preparing..." I will state my view on going away! You see for those who go away, they need to pack. They need to pack for themselves, and for their spouse if there is one, and do not forget to throw in kids...if they are any. Then you have to plan a head. You need to make a calculation and figure out what the weather will be like in the future. Say, it is April, it should be nice weather, sun...a bit cold at times etc...BUT what happens when it is 35 degrees most of the time and raining almost every day?! Like this past year??? There goes the clothing....no Spring Pesach this year for New Yorkers.
But what about those who went outside the machane, and went to other states and had lovely weather excpet for the days that they left...those poor people! They had 70-85 degree weather the ENTIRE time except for the last day of their vacation! They needed to take their summer clothing out and predict that although it is usually colder where they are going, it turns out nicer than home. Go figure. So again, you are planning the future with Mother Nature! Not a smart thing to do.
But then you have those who have it even harder. Those who go away to a hotel for YomTov. Oy, the planing, the packing, the decissions they need to make. A new outfit for every meal. You cannot wear the same thing twice and you do not know what the weather is. For the females it is even harder, as they cannot wear a robe!! So what do they do? Bring their whole wardrobe plus? I am sure they are thinking how easy it would be if they were home, and had the option of their entire closet at their disposal!
So, for those of you who stay home...do you really wish you could go away and deal with these hardships???
Let me know....
